2011 Summary

Actually, I have been thinking to write or not write a summary of 2011.

2011 has been quite a change. Not so much, but, it does affect my life. Even though change is the only constant, too much changes is quite hard to swallow at a time.

2011, I have changed job in March. A job and a company that I have stayed for almost 6 years.
2011, I flewed in business class to US. First time flying to the States on work basis. And first time in business class. Only differences were the space and food (though still air craft food)
2011, I went to China (a country that have not in my list to visit) for work. And I was there 4 times in a year and for work.
2011, a year which I didn't go for any mission trip. :(

2011 has been a lot of changes in relation to the people around me too. Few friends left to work or settled overseas. :(

2011 just passed without me realising much. Overall, I didn't really feel so much about the year. Maybe too many things happened that I am still trying to digest.

I realised, life goes on no matter what. Either you follow to move on, or you will be left behind. Everyone has a life to move on, no one actually stop and wait. Sounds cruel, but, that's the reality. We have to pick ourselves up and move on too.

However, with God, my life is not the same. I know God is watching over me on every step that I take. I know He is in control and above all, I know He loves me. And, that's the fact! :) It is good to know that we have God's promises and blessings. :)

Catching up... cheers for friendship

So, Karim told Boon Hwa to arrange for a reunion/ catching up/ gathering. Boon Hwa told me to do so. Seems like a trend. sigh... So, I just sent out FB invite, whatsapp a few, skype Michelle. And set, Saturday lunch.

As Sherine and Michelle went to took our Christmas presents from the car, uncle (Boon Hwa) and I were suppose to choose a restaurant. So, uncle took me round the entire Pavillion in my heels, and I said, just go to Ben's. sooo pengsan...

Then, we ended up at Ben's. The ambience is definitely nice and cosy for friends to catch-up. I think we were the most noisy bunch. hahaha... Food... I won't rate it as nice or so high marks. We have requested for change of water a few times as they didn't come as clean. :s

Then, what's next? Some of us, at least Karim and I, would like to have ice cream (BR is just next door). Then, uncle said, let's go for very nice coffee. So, bye bye ice cream, we went for the very nice coffee instead. That's Illy. Is it nice? I don't know. I cannot take coffee in the afternoon otherwise, I will really suffer at night (cannot sleep lo..). So, I opted for the juice, it's orange + lime + pineapple. It's eye lifting because it's soooo sour. hahaha...

The place was so packed that the waiter initially want to put us to sit under the sun. I was... arhhh... hello... we are Malaysian. We prefer to sit in air-cond, we don't need the sun so much... Thank goodness, 2 ladies left, and we had the table near the door, so, we did get some air-cond. :)

So, it's another gila (crazy) talking and laughing time together. To a point, Karim said, are we too loud? Like our shop? Sigh.. this is the line that we are so used to hearing. But, well...

And we ordered gelato too. Still, I prefer the real ice cream. So, they still owe me my ice cream. hahaha... A slice of tiramisu (which is very strong, I suppose that's good?). And a slice of don't know what cake that aunty (Sherine) cannot remember. So, I called it, the yummy fatt-gou-like cake. :D pengsan...

Karim's ipad had a share of his chocolate gelato too. sigh... we are really gila la..
Overall, I had a great time. Hope the rest did too. I wish we will meet again soon and be gila again. Next time is at uncle's house? I doubt he will open his house or kitchen for us. ;)

Meeting up

Was asked by Audrey Ho if would like to meet up with another few Finance colleagues from DiGi/ ex-DiGi. Well, that's ok. So, was informed to meet at Empire mall. Then, to my surprise, aside the few expected (Viveen, Charles, Ong and Lay), Mee Lin and Suan Suan also appeared. Wow... Out of 8, 5 have left DiGi and 3 still remain.

Di Wei is a Chinese cuisine restaurant. I would say the ambience is quite nice. Mee Lin ordered the food. Some of the food are quite nice, like kai-lan, the bean-curd with special sauce, Shanghai xiao-long-pau. The fish was overcooked and so a bit tough. Whereas, because I am not a pork lover, the mongolian pork came a bit too much for me, as well as the lat-mei-fan. :(

I did like the complimentary steam cake as well as the tang-yuan. :)

Chiffon cake

I have love chiffon cake since young. After trying to bake when I was in NZ, I have been trying to make the pandan chiffon cake for at least 3 - 4 times in Malaysia. Everytime, it doesn't turn out as chiffon cake though I have followed different recipes. :(

Then, I came across this blog: http://ieatishootipost.sg/2010/05/how-to-make-pandan-chiffon-cake-almost.html And I tried again, I followed the steps, the measurements, still, it doesn't. Then, I suspect, it's the oven. So, next, I adjust the oven temperature myself and tested out.

Guess what?! Yes! The above picture came out. And my pandan chiffon cake was well accepted by the family members. Then, I make another 1 few days later, still, not perfect, but, yes. It's pandan chiffon cake. I will try to bake another one before the year end, hopefully. :)

Costume Party

Children church hold a year end Costume party for all the children. All the children were so excited about this event.

Initially, I was not involve. Then, Cornelia asked if I could to help to prepare watermelon. Well, that's not very tough. I agreed. Then, on the day before the event, I was informed, we need to dress-up in costume too.

Not knowing what to do. I have decided to be tourist. Then, maybe have my face paint. But, I don't know where can I get the face paint. Thank God Cornelia said she has. So, I went to church, got Cornelius draw on my face for whatever that he likes except mouse and cat (as I don't like the 2). And Monica make herself a hat which I took over as she had a better hat.

I think all the kids and adults enjoyed the party very much. And so we end the session with food. :)

Gathering

It was quite complicating to finally fixed this gathering. Our friend, Karim, is leaving the country to join Dtac in Bangkok, Thailand soon. So, we thought of having a gathering (no one likes farewell) until we meet again. So, finally, the time and the venue set.

And, it is quite a mixed feeling of this gathering/ reunion. Happy to see each other and yet unsure when will we meet again.

We have decided to meet at Delicious, Mid Valley.

Aside food, we enjoyed the company of each other very much. Karim just got back from his NZ trip, so, he was having some jetlag.

Sherine and Michelle put in a lot of effort to make an album for Karim. Hoping he will remember us. Well, at least, he was surprised and he really spent time reading and going through all the pictures and words.

So, since uncle Boon Hwa and I had our birthday in October. Our birthdays were celebrated too.

We had a good time together.

Wishing Karim all the best in his future undertaking. Hope we will have more get together.

Planetshakers Concert

Came across this Christian band will be having concert in Malaysia on Facebook. Though I don't know many of their songs, I do like the few songs that I had. Then, I asked a few friends if they would go with me. Well, it's kinda weird, though acceptable, to go alone. I suppose it's better to go in a gang.

So, I asked Viveen, and she said yes. Then, I saw Lee Nyiuk online. Mentioned to her and she wanted to go as well. So, I went to get the ticket and they still have 3. Yeah!!

On the day, I went to meet up with Viveen, we went for some shopping before met up with Lee Nyiuk at PJ. So, there were many youths. We were 'seated' at the balcony, though we ended up standing most of the time.

Then, the pastor shared about Christ. John 3:16, at a total new perspective that I have not heard. I suppose that's the way to target for youth. :)

Well, I had fun at the concert. It's my first ever Christian concert. And, I like it. :)

Pastor Rainier Schmidt

Agape invited Pastor Rainier for an evangelistic meeting. Pastor Rainier is from Germany and have won many medals in paralympics as well as many games in Europe on ping-pong.

He said, without Jesus, it is impossible. He has such joy despite being handicapped. I was indeed touched and inspired by him.

Day-off with Logos crews cum friends

It was since Dec 2010 that I got to know those that I met at mission trip in Turning Point, London will be sailing on Logos ship. And they will stop at Malaysia. It was exciting to know that we will be meeting again. We continued to keep in touch with our friendships via technology, facebook. Though the timing wasn't really and the schedule of the ship docking at Port Klang has been changed a few times.

Logos is the largest floating book store in the world where it will go from port to port, country to country, docking and welcoming everyone to visit her. There are many books on board for one to read and buy at a reasonal price.

Finally, Eunji sent out the schedule and we make plans to meet. It was really hard to find the time for all to meet on the same day. As both Eunji and Jay have been promoted to team leader at the kitchen while Alexandra has duty on that day. Thus, I took leave on that day and Angela is working freelance.

Both Angela and I went to Port Klang to fetch Eunji and Jay out at 9am. It was so exciting seeing both of them walking out the jetty. They ran towards the car and we gave each other a big tight hug. It was really awesome seeing them. :)

Since we were in Klang, we went for pak-kut-teh (herbal prok ribs), and Korean likes port too. It was delicious brunch.

Then, next. Since the girls preferred outdoor and Sunway lagoon was too expensive for half a day event. We went for Putrajaya instead. So, we ended up at Pullman Hotel. We took picture. Enjoyed a cold fresh juices. Then, next, cycling. Yes! It's a bit insane to cycle at about 1pm. We all had fun. If it's not because of the rain, we would have done more. It was really fun spending time together. Relaxing.. End result: I got myself really tanned. And I know it's going to take months or year to get fair again. But, it didn't really matter as long as we had a good time.

So, what do we want for late lunch? Eunji tried durian before. So, she wanted for durian. Durian has not been my friend, and so does Jay. We left Eunji and Angela to enjoy the durian while we went for Mong-kok-cha-chan-teng for hong kong style food. I had dumpling. Eunji came and she enjoyed my dumpling soup. :)

After late lunch, it was time for pasar malam (night market) at SS2 as it's Monday. It is one of the place where one is able to see a lot of things. We walked around pasar malam. Tried on the peanut soup. And it poured like cats and dogs again. So, instead of having shelter at Maybank, we went over to have dessert (hot) while waiting for the rain to stop before continue walking.

Then, Angela said, let's go for dinner though all of us were still very full. But, the dinner place will be pack if we don't go early, so, we have no choice. We ordered roast duck and fried hokkian mee. Where is this? It's at Damansara Uptown. And yes, both were super yummy. The Koreans love the lard so much! And the noodle was so tasty that though we were full, we still kept eating. So, all of us ended up with no more waist (ie, fat). Then, we went off carrying our stomach. It was really way too much food for the day.

Instead of heading back to Port Klang, we would like to spend more time still. So, Angela said, let's go to Sunway Pyramid. So, there we were. Walking and enjoy the lights. We ended the eating spree with Starbucks. :)

Then, it is time to send the girls back to the ship. We prayed in the car before saying good-bye. Really, after this, we really do not know when will we meet again. Yet, surely, we will meet again. :)

Lunch

Called Pastor Mabel and Yen-Ching for lunch on a Friday. Then, they decided to visit this newly opened Taiwanese restaurant at Era Walk. The ambience is really cosy and nice. Personally, I find the food ok, edible. But, I may go for other options the next round. ;)

One day trip Taman Pertanian Bukit Cahaya Shah Alam + Pulau Ketam

Got to know this trip through Chinese Church Service. It's a day trip with the young working adult. Since it's on Malaysia Day (public holiday) and I wanted to exercise - Taman Cahaya to cycle. I have decided to join them though I only know 1 - 2 person in the group.

We met in church at 7am. As usual, there are people where were late.

We arrived at Shah Alam (with some guidance on GPS and personal GPS - my friend through text), we managed to reach there by 8.30am. It was flooded with people. Everyone rushed in to line up for ticket. Next, everyone rushed to rent the bicycle. Then, us? So, some said, very hungry. Took time for breakfast. So, we knew no chance. Thus, opted for free bus.

The weather was hot, sunny + humid.

We only spent half a day there as it's really nothing much. Some of the places like 4 seasons house was closed for renovation.

Then, we decided to go to Pulau Ketam. Where's that? OK. We knew, it's at Klang. But, where to take the ferry? GPS. Now, GPS couldn't locate it. So, we asked. Someone said, very near. Gave some brief direction and off we went.

Waited for about 30 minutes for the ferry to come. A returned trip costs us RM14. The ferry was old. And yet, it's taking more passengers than it should be. We have passengers standing, quite pack, in the ferry. The entire journey was about 30 - 35 minutes from Port Klang. I didn't feel comfortable, the ship would sink kept appearing in my mind. If anything happened, I can't swim. Maybe I will end up floating to Sumatra?

So, what's so nice of Pulau Ketam? We had late lunch. Seafood. A lot of people went there for lunch. It's really a very typical villange life. I think we can get better seafood, just the price that matters. Other than that, it's nothing special. oh... Yes!! Something special, normally, we get oyster fried with egg. There, we get to try clam (la-la) friend with egg. It's quite different. :)

So, we headed back for the ferry at about 5pm. Reached Seremban about 6.30pm. It's a long and tiring day. Well, at least I have been to Pulau Ketam. :)

Liyen's farewell

Shanghai

It's another Shanghai trip. A number of people envy me for able to travel so often, frankly, it's not that fun. I used to be of those, now, that I know. Nothing so great. Infact, it's very tiring.

One evening, a colleague took us out for dinner. Steamboat. I cannot imagine having steamboat in the summer. Anyway, we went. It was raining. And the restaurant was with air-cond. They have started to order. And I let them since they appear to be more experience. The soup came as individual which I quite like the idea. Scallops were huge. One dish that I find it scary was the fish. The fish didn't actually died yet, they sliced the meat and present the fish (still living and grasping for air). OK. I find this aweful and cruel. yeewww..... Overall, it was an OK dinner, aside that horrible fish experience.

On Saturday, another colleague took me out. As I told her about the 水蜜桃 that my parents have been descriping to me. Then, I realised, it's just peaches. So, what's so special. I bought a few back to try in the hotel. It's special, not only that it's big, juicy and it's sweet. Not very sweet, but, not the sourish taste as those from NZ/ Oz. Then, I wonder how could I buy and bring home. It needs to be hand carry as it is so fragile. Let's think....

Of course, we went for lunch and dessert. One thing I find is that the dish presentation is very important.
I was meeting up Hong Seek (someone from Rantau) for dinner. And he has some of his cell members. We went to this place call 小小花园 (little garden). It's located at a very quiet street. Actually, it's a house, they have converted the downstairs to restaurant. They serve western food. Wow... the outside of the place doesn't give one the impression of dining there at all. But, inside. Wow!!! Nice.. they have covered their garden and with transparent roof where one is able to see the skyline still. And the food... yummy... Especially, the dessert. That I didn't even have the chance to take pictures. Only that I am not comfortable as they have few cats in there.

We changed from living hall to garden to another hall throughout the entire dinner. Not because of me. But, we wanted to have a different experience of dining at different place. It's really a cozy place to hang-out.

Oh... their hot chocolate fudge is really super nice....

What else? On Sunday, Christine and her family and I went to Science Center. Yeah... shopping.. it's located at underground, yet, with air-cond. It's quite similar to Chatuchak in BKK, or Petaling Street. But, it's a lot of bigger.

On the way, I saw this kid with 爆炸裤 (bomb blast pants). In fact, most of the local will let the kids to wear like that. They don't wear diapers. Rich or poor, all the same. It's so funny. And imagine, winter to be dressed like that too. oh... poor little butt get frozen....

As we walked back at night, after the 'melting' Haagan Dazs, as the weather was too hot. I saw this tallest building glowing. It's hard to get a clear skyline.

I stayed just behind Nanjing Road. So, I did try to walk a little this time, especially after work. It's a very happening street. A few times, few person came up to me asking me to have my hair cut, they told me they will style it so nicely, etc. It's kinda scary as they are very aggressive.

So, about the peaches. I went to buy some the day before I depart. I told the seller, I am going to bring them up to aeroplane and it's as a gift. So, they wrap them in boxes and arranged them so nice (again presentation) for me. Now, I need to carry 2 big paper bags on flight. It's another story that I managed to get 1 laptop bag + 2 big paper bags pass through the custome in China. ;)

Gunung Angsi via Bukit Putus

Somehow the few of us have the urge to climb. But, all of us do not want too much challenge. We knew that there were a group who are going for Mt. K on Merdeka is climbing as well. But, we don't want to join them. Thus, we decided to use the Bukit Putus route.

This route is steep at the beginning, thereafter easy climb/ walk. And one does not cross any river.

4 of us met at McD at Senawang. We started the climb at about 7.30am or slightly before. For I have not done climbing for a long time, I find it still quite challenging at the beginning. If not mistaken, we took about 1.5 hours to reach the peak. Rested, had some of our food.

Eunice brought along an interesting self heating chocolate drink to share with us. I don't think one can get it in Malaysia. It's not super nice. But, it's nice to have hot drink. :)

We started to descend. And no, we didn't wait for our friends coming up from Ulu Bendul way. On the way down, we saw Panjang Angsi coffee shop was open and he was serving coffee to many climbers. Thumbs up!! :)

We reached the based at around 11.30am and went for lunch before each of us go back and continue the other activities. We took a group of Singaporean whom we met on the climb for curry noodle in Senawang as lunch.

I realised that we didn't take much photos as we climb more often. Could it be we start to take that as an exercise/ routine already?

It's a day to celebrate. Somehow we booked the day earlier, much earlier. And was trying to confirm and confirm.

As our friend loves Japanese food so much, and he choose Rakuzen.

Earlier I got a message 'commanding' not to get any cake as there's a cake ready. It's weird as no one knows what kind of cake. Anyhow, knowing our friend likes ice cream, I went ahead and bought a small ice cream cup cake.

The dinner was ok. It's a friendly and polite dinner.

A friend, Kamal, has been asking me to join marathon since some time ago. For this Standard Chartered, he has suggesting me to join him for 5KM fun run. I went to check on the web site, it's quite costly especially passed the early bird registration. Instead, I saw the word 'Volunteer', after exploring it, it seems quite interesting. Thus, I signed myself up.

It was quiet for awhile unsure if I have been chosen. Then, came the email saying that I have been chosen and will be involved in Route Marshal. The email read that I need to go to Bukit Jalil stadium for a training a Saturday before the run, and on the event itself,I gotta be at the stadium at 10pm on Saturday and the work won't finish till 1pm on Sunday. I read the mail again and again disbelieve on the time required. Thus, I rang up and they said, ya, NO mistake, it's correct. So, I started thinking, should I withdraw.
The training Saturday came, I went for the training. More of a briefing, it finished within 1 hour. Still, I was thinking, should I go for the real day? At least, I make a friend. :)

The weekend. So, I have decided to attend. Well, since I have not done this. It would be a different experience. So, I went to the Putra Stadium/ Hall for the 10pm registration. Then, changed into the volunteer t-shirt. We were given some small snacks and a movie to watch. Then, we were gathered according to our team at 12am. We were (supposed) to be given briefing by our team leader. But, my team didn't get any briefing. We got a bag filled with food and drink, hat, whistle. So, we continued to wait till 2am to be depoted to our station.

Each team covers a radius of 3KM. So, our team started at Sg. Besi highway till the turning at Dewan Pustaka which is about at KM12. We were there waited since 2.30am and the race only started at 5am. So, the first runner would only arrive at our place at 5.30am, fastest. So, we were there walking up and down, feeding/ donating our blood to Mr. Mosquitos. It's a long night and morning. Long wait.....

At 5.45am, traffic police and the official workers riding their bikes came to our area and told us to get ready, runners are coming. So, we stood up (trying as we were exhausted after a long night) awaiting for the runners. The runners from Kenya. Their pace is really steady, a group of them. Even the females.

Then, we saw more. Instead of doing the marshal role, we were more of supporters. :D We saw pacer at 2.30hr, 3.30hr, etc. carrying a big ballon with them. And we saw different ones wearing different costumes. It's facinating and eye opening. I was trying to spot some friends who participated in the run. Well, it's too dark and I couldn't see anyone. Also, I was struggling to open my eyes. We literally sat in the middle of the road trying to cheer them.

Though the road was closed, we also saw how Malaysian still force their way through. Driving attitude definitely needs to improve. Guess what? The bigger/ more expensive the car, the greater the attitude problem. sigh...

So, I believe we finished our duty at almost 8am. Where a bus came to fetch us back to the stadium. Waited to get our token (RM40) of appreciation, sandwich, I went home. I was really tired. Not the work, but, the waiting time.

Overall, it's a good experience. :) And well done to all runners. A big thank you for all volunteers.

Farewell - Gisle

Got to know that Gisle is leaving back to Oslo, Norway. He was my colleague in DiGi. We got to know each other more as we involved in Rainbow (a collaboration project of DiGi - Celcom).

It was quite shocking to know that he is heading back home as his assignment in Msia is only 1 year? Normally, they will be here for at least 2 years.

And he told me to have a get together prior his departure when I met him on Woon's wedding. So, somehow a farewell lunch was arranged at Ole-Ole Bali, Empire Shopping mall, Subang Jaya.

It's a mixed feeling to meet up with old colleagues who hardly get in-touch. Nevertheless, it was a warmth occassion. And with Facebook, it definitely draw the world closer.

Farewell

Aw Wen Wey, our team member, decided to leave us to Oz with wife.

We (Business Performance & Analytics, Technology) were so close with each other then, and decided to meet up more often.

Rather than a farewell, it is more of reunion for us.

So, we met up on 11 June, at Tasty Pot, Sunway, for steamboat. It was awesome! For me, not so much the food, but, the companion. I think all of us just hope the night could last.

Then, again, we meet up on 13 June for dinner and some dessert.

It's been hard to say good-bye. I believe friendship will stay if we want to. And so the quote below shared by Aw to us: No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth. -- Robert Southey

Impromptu PD

I was online and so was Fong. Suddenly, we started chatting and decided to went to PD. It was almost 6pm and yet the sun was scorching hot. I wonder what would we do if it's summer where the sun doesn't set till 10pm.

Anyhow, I went to pick her up from her house, and on our way to PD.

It was a public holiday and so the traffic in PD was awfully packed.

I insisted to go to Teluk Kemang as mom said it's a nice beach. I can't remember when was the last time I went to PD and beach.

So, we arrived after driving and jam for some time. It's worth it. The sunset was so beautiful, the waves, the everything... I like it. And surprisingly, it wasn't as humid as my past beaches experience. This was different. And I like it. :)

After taking some photos, we decided to eat. Well, it's just 2 of us, so, it will be too much for seafood. Further, my PD friend won't really able to direct us. And we both don't mind having Malay food. In fact, somehow, i was craving for food. hahaha.... So, we saw some stall nearby, and so, we started to order: satay, otak-otak, mee rebus, mee goreng, cendol (dara), lychee.. and I was thinking burger, but, might be too much. Yeah!! It was good meal. Maybe because I just got back from Shanghai too. :P

Then, we went back to the beach and it was dark. Yet, it was nice. As it's getting dark, we decided to head home. On the way, we stopped at another beach where we saw on the way to Teluk Kemang. This beach is brighter as there have lights.

Even so, the beach was still have quite a number of people.

It was an awesome trip. I like it. :) Getting away to somewhere without plan is good. I had similar experience in NZ where my friends just pulled me for a weekend get-away from Wellington to Auckland. It's a crazy 8 - 10 hours drive (1 way) and just over the weekend. :D

Singapore - Shanghai - Singapore (May 2011)

This job need me to travel quite a bit. So, after 2 weeks in Malaysia, another (extra) trip to Singapore for SAP transformation. Then, to Shanghai where my boss (was supposed) to introduce me to the bosses there.

Then, it ended up I was introducing myself most of the time. :S

It was a short trip. Staying in Ritz Carlton in Spore which was really cool. And I spent the weekend meeting up with long time friends. A friend (ah-yong) kept the key chain she has bought since 5 years ago and pass it to me. So sweet. :)

Also, Spore trip allow me to visit grandpa and aunt. So, I celebrated mother's day with them. Did cycling. haha...
Reaching Shanghai on Sunday, checked-in, rush to church. Church service is here quite different. Only foreigners can go to church. Locals will have a separate church service. It's a small church and all were pack together.
Then, my HR colleague took me to cheng-huang-miao (tourist spot) and I find that's nothing so special. Food wasn't fantastic, in fact, tasteless. And we saw this hanging pot. ok.. i was impressed. It was just supported by 1 pipe at the bottom.

China. A country that I have never put in my travel list. Now, I have to be here very frequent for work. Where is God leading me? Obedience is key.

This trip was awefully tired. My flights were all early in the morning, so, I have to wake up at 3am or 4am to check-out and go to airport. And this trip makes me sun burnt (don't know from where) and skin was peeling terribly on my forehead.

As I missed Malaysian food so much + all of the (Analytics & Performance) members missed me so much. We have decided to meet up even when I was still in US that we are to meet up.

So, I was back. And they took me to this place, Lala Chong, at PJ. Well, we ate. We all have a good time.

Thanks, Wen Wey, Li Yen & Ricky. And, most importantly, it is a reunion dinner for us. :) We enjoyed each other's company so much that we don't really want to go back. Just sit and chat. It was just amazing that we have such close friendship.

Change in March

It's been a long while since I jot down something in my block.

March 2011.

It's a month with change, it's a month with a lot of difference feelings, it's a month to remember.

Decision make to leave DiGi - the company that I once prayed and longing to join not long after I graduated, found out no chance to go into the industry (banking/ brokerage) that I have dream of since school time (it was recession when I graduated). DiGi, it was small and young then, but, I wanted to join, I don't know why.

One day, DiGi called me for interviewed. I think it was the moment. And I was offered the job. And 11 March, marks the day that I left DiGi. The day. The day that was raining or drizzling the whole day. The day where I left DiGi quietly, except TMT 'forced' me to say a formal good-bye and some 'managed' to hug me.

I am not a person who knows how to say goodbye. And I think saying goodbye means will never meet again. This will sadden me and I don't like to feel sad. I would rather to keep it and have the hope to meet again.

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, 2011

I was make known about the SCHKM even prior my Dec'10 mission trip. Then, I said, I wanted to tag along (unsure if I was welcome or not...). When I was away in London, I was told to book ticket to HK. Still, I was unsure if and should I go or was it because I was too pushy that I wanted to tag along. So, I only booked ticket for Karim. Then, he said, he wanted me to go along and so I bought myself a ticket too. :) But, why do I go? Yeah!!! I wanna meet my friends there.

Then, I started to look for hotels and told my friends that I am coming. It was so exciting. And yes, I wasn't running at all. I just go 'keh-poh' (busy body)... :D

Our flight was supposed to depart at 9.30am, but, it got delayed by 2 hours because the computer was down and the radar was down too. Gee... the cabin door was then opened for emergency purposes and we were served with nuts and drinks. Still, it didn't satisfy me. :( Well, think of it, the journey was supposed to be 3 hours and we gotta spent 5 hours in the flight. It wasn't a bad deal, uh?! hahaha...

So, we got into Hong Kong late. We stayed in B P International Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. It was not so bad. Small, yet clean, tidy. And the most important is it is near to shopping area, food, MTR. I would go back to stay if I ever go to HK again.

After checking into hotel. We went out to shopping while waiting for Chris to meet us for dinner. Karim did lots of shopping, until I almost got myself a job in the Royal Sporting House too. ;P As we walked to the dining area, we saw StandChart having some mascots promoting the marathon. Oh.. the weather. It was a bit cold and I really love the weather as Malaysia was really cold.

Then, we went for Pakistani food. It was nice. I was hungry but ate little. ohh... it was a tiring day...

Next day?! Oh... must remember to collect Karim's running pack. So, we went to Victoria Park. Wow... it was awesome place. Many people were doing picnic, exercise, collecting pack. Most interestingly, the work to prepare the finishing line was on-going. We took lots of pictures, we met a Philipino Chinese group. Ya. They were running too. And so was Karim, not me. :)

Then, we walked/ shopped around at Causeway Bay. Karim's friend, Lim Eng Wah, met up with us and we had lunch. I think it's really nice meeting up old friends.

Timesquare is where we went next. And guess what? We saw tulips!! I love tulips!! :)

We were told another Malaysian running friend, Cynthia (?), fall sick. So...? We went back to hotel, put our things, took some medication and head to Mongkok to visit her. arh... Mongkok, very happening place. Quite complicated. I don't quite like the place. hmm... My friend, Ellen, a friend I met in 2009 at the mission conference trip, she came to meet up with us for dinner. oh.. Chris came to join us too. So, we went for Japanese food. For me, it's not so much of the food, but, the company of friends. Yeah... Nice catching with friends who shared the same vision, passion. :) Karim didn't join us for a show. Ellen's friend, Eunix Lee 李卓庭， a Hong Kong pop artist/ singer, was singing/ having a show. We went to visit her. Then, I found out, they are Christian too. Wow.... what really encourages me was that seeing the real artist busy life, smiling, taking picture, giving autographs, and yet preparing to sing/ perform on stage. I saw her prayed before going on-stage. Ellen asked if I could pray for the team when the whole show was over. Yes. I would. We prayed. It touches me more, they are not ashame to group together to pray. We prayed in the mall, in the corner. Wow.. it was a good experience.

Sunday came. I walked down to the starting point with Karim. Ya.. taking his jacket, bag, etc right before he started the marathon. I thought of getting a bit more sleep before heading to church. Well, it's hard. :( I went to a church at Tsim Sha Tsui, ECC International at YMCA. I found this church on internet. Joined them. It was a short and yet awesome Sunday Service.

Thereafter, took MTR to Causeway Bay. Gee.... it was really jammed pack with people. Why? Because a lot of road close and so many people took MTR than ever. I reached the spot at hour 5 thinking and wondering where's Karim. After about 30 minutes, then, I received a text. Gosh.. He was at the waiting area waiting for me. Then, I found out, he did the full marathon, 42KM, in 4.56 hour. Gee.... That was a great job done!

hmm... ok... I rushed there, seeing him standing in pain and cold. OK. I feel sorry. :s Seriously sorry. So, how? Wanna take a taxi back. But, wait, road were closed, so, no way we can get taxi. We just gotta walk really slowly to the MTR, took train back.

Yeah.. the afternoon, since Karim was in pain, I went out with another friend, Venus, a friend I met at mission conference trip too. She bought me egg tarts (yummy), almond cookies, and more cookies. So, Karim resting in the hotel, while I went out. hahah... We went to Tsim Sha Tsui, Star walk.. of course, prior reaching there, we went for some shopping. Walk is the thing. We walked a lot.. really a lot.. And art gallery. wow.. all the lights were awesome!! There were amazing. So, we had dinner, huge portion of noddle which I only managed to ate a quarter. It was funny. I couldn't stop but kept laughing. As I asked for more coriander, so, it came as it whole bowl of coriander was what I ordered.

Yeah!! All my friends complaint (as usual) that my trip to Hong Kong was way too short. Yeah!! I wanted to go to Noah's ark exhibition, the outlet malls, etc.. No time.. I wanna go Hong Kong again. And Ocean Park.

Hong Kong friends!! Thank you for making my trip such an unforgettable one. I love you guys! :)

Holiday in Nova Scotia, Canada

Instead of staying in London (alone) for Christmas, I was told that I could go to Canada for Christmas. It cost a bomb though. Instead of Halifax, I went to Grande Pre, a small ‘village’. I was staying with Leung’s family, the parents, 2 girls (Janese and Susan), Pette (the cousin from Perth, Australia), Piper (the dog), Montrose (the cat) and Casti (the big black cat, like leopard).

Vincent (father Leung) took me to the Acadia University where we visiting Irving’s building.

We went to the Christmas Eve church service. It was such a cool church and so traditional (Baptist church?!). Leung father and mother were singing in the choir. As we came back, we stopped for the Christmas lights at one of the neighbor’s house.

Christmas!!! It is weird that we didn’t go to church. In Malaysia, it is Church Service on Christmas day itself with hot and humid. In Nova Scotia, it is sleep-in with cold and dry. (I still have jetlag, I guess as I have been waking up at 4am which means 8am in London.)

So, we woke up, got our presents unwrapped. Dinner on Christmas was awesome. We have few friends over: Forrest, Wanda and her husband.

On boxing day, instead of boxing all the things up, we decorated a ginger bread house. Hahaa….. it was humorous. As we tried to work in the kitchen, where it is warm and nice, the icing kinda melting. Haha…

We have also decided to go for a walk, walked to the beach. It was muddy. The big tree (over 60 years old) fall few days prior my arrival caused by the strong wind.

Curling?! What’s that? I was told it is one of the game in Olympics and we are gonna have fun. So, we arrived and the president of the club came welcome us. He gave us some basic instructions on what to do and techniques as well. We need to have a pair of clean shoe as any sand/ stone will destroy the ice which is not good. Then, we need to masked one of the shoe, if the person is right handed, the left foot to be masked. Then, we went into the ice area which was cold. The president told us a lot of rules, and techniques. I can only remember a team make up of 4 persons and how to curl. The rest, who plays what role, I am sorry.. :p

It was a very fun game where we will need to brush on the ice to warm it up with a broom so that the stone can go further. Haha… Also, the stone can’t go on smooth ice surface as the ice skating type as if it is too smooth, the stone will just vacuum in and not able to move. The shoe with the masking tape is to help us to slide.

We went for hot chocolate and little/ mini doughnuts after the game. It was good. Of course shopping at 2^nd hand store. On that day, we had dinner at 8++pm which was late. Otherwise, it will be dinner at 5.30pm (I will be still at work if I were back home).

As Jean gave me some experience on snow mobile, Janesse and Pette started drawing and colouring on t-shirts. I am truly impressed by their work.

About snow mobile, I need to wear special jump suit which makes me feel like astronaut. Hahah… :D As I went on the bike where Jean was taking me, it was really fun. It reminded me of the movie: Inception. It was so cool….

Instead of going back to the 2^nd hand shop, Joshua and I went to café for internet while they went for shopping. It was good that I managed to get something done.

As it was a fine day, we have decided to go to sledding and building snowman. We went to the field/ park outside Acadia University Hall as it has a little slope. It was really fun sliding down with the sled. It was an awesome experience. Climbing up the slope wasn’t as fun though. It was tiring. Then, we wanted to build snowman, but, the snow were too fine and were sticky enough. Need some rain, I guess. We just played with the snow, had pictures. It was really surprising to see Jean & Vincent came visiting us with hot chocolate. Like the Chinese saying: 血中送炭。It was awesome to have 2 times free hot chocolate delivering (1 in London and another in New Minas, Canada). Sweet as…

That’s about my winter holiday in Nova Scotia. Honestly, I do not know when will I visit again, but, it was truly a good time altogether. :) I enjoyed the company, the sceneries, the food, everything…. :D

Turning Point (Lights of London) 2010

I have wanted to go for another mission trip after the OCZ009. As I have tried to sort out the documents to go for OCZ010 to Japan, indeed God provided the visa at the end, I didn’t manage to go as I was involved in Rainbow (Network Sharing between DiGi & Celcom). The project was just kicked-off and I felt that it might not be a good idea to go for 2 – 3 weeks. And mom wasn’t very comfortable with it as well. Thus, I called it off. Thank God that I haven’t got my ticket.

As the time past, I still find that I still needed to go for a mission trip in 2010. And as I was looking up in the internet, I came across Turning Point 2010 started on 11 Dec 2010 and just before Christmas. Wow!!! That was wonderful! I was thanking God for the perfect timing. Why so? Well, it was scheduled that 10 Dec is a replacement holiday from the company (since 11 Dec was a public holiday – Birthday of Selangor’s Sultan). And at the same time, Board meeting was on 9^th Dec AND the project’s MOU ends on 9^th Dec as well. Isn’t that wonderful?

I signed myself up, get my ticket booked and a few other things sorted out. I wasn’t very sure if this is the trip that I should go as there were a few not so happy things happened in between (ya.. hasn’t pay the fee, so, it’s ok to back-off, but, not the air ticket though). And work gets really busy for Board preparation (so much to be done). At the same time, I was worried and praying fervently that God to get the Board to approve 2011 Capex. I was quite disappointed that the project got extended though. Why? Because I do not like to leave things un-finish before I go. Perhaps it is time for me to learn to rely/ trust others? Anyway, it was a crazy weeks or months (working throughout weekends, I will be in the office around 6am or 6.30am, went back at around 7pm or 8pm and continue to work until past midnight. At the same time, answering questions in the middle of nights, all these just to get the Board preparations. Sometimes, I just wished people could understand. It wasn’t that I love (well, I don’t hate so much) my work, it is the verse that I cling on, do the work on earth as it is unto the Lord. Also, I have prayed for the job, as God provided me, I just want to give my best to Him.)

My flight to London was on 10 Dec (right after the Board meeting). It was crazy. I got to know that Board endorsed the 2011 Capex and approved 2 other investments that we have prepared. Hallelujah!! It was such a release ( I do hope that the project could be approved too, but, well, since it’s collaboration, it also depends on the other party). So, I was trying to finish/ clear as much as possible prior my departure. My flight was at 10am. Gee…. So, I went home earlier (7pm?!) and had dinner, final packing, final checking/ clearing mails, and slept.

My flight from KL – Dubai got delayed from KL. Wow… it meant I might missed my connecting flight to London. Gee… this wasn’t so nice… I was kinda ‘running’ at the Dubai airport, and by the time, I got to the gate, I saw my flight taxing off the gate to runway. Wow… So, I went back to the Connecting Counter, got another boarding pass for another flight. By then, I was so hot and sweating (imagine, having a backpack, a cabin baggage, and a big winter jacket), hmm… it wasn’t very nice.

So, I arrived London 8pm instead of scheduled 6pm (local time) and John, that’s another story itself, met up with me. We took a bus and walked (no car) to his small apartment. It was cold. Really cold by the time I got into the room at about 11pm. Deciding should I get a shower, I did, a quick one and it was freezing, shivering. Jetlag didn’t really kick-in yet as I was really tired.

John sent me to the Trinity Center the next morning. It was a nice apartment that can see the old church, but, it was a pity that he has to move out the weekend itself for a even smaller apartment. We left at 8am as I need to be at the center by 9am.

The whole program started. All participants were break/ assigned into different churches. I was ‘sent’ to Woodberry church. We started with ice breaker (which didn’t really break the ice, I reckon, but, it wasn’t that bad..). In the evening, we were introduced to Speakers Corner as some of us would be down there to listen/ witness/ experience it altogether.

On Sunday, we attended the Woodberry Down St. John Baptist Church (exactly where I lived for the whole program). It was a cool nice ‘real’ church. We had to leave ¾ of the service as we need to get to HPCF (Hyde Park Christian Fellowship) where we get a workshop and right after that, we all head to Hyde Park for Speakers Corner. We walked on Oxford Street to get to Hyde Park. It was so crowded also due to Christmas. I was so tempted to shop, but, well, we were rushing.

It was stunning when we get to Hyde Park. I can see people on the ladder speaking about Christianity while there were crowds supporting or challenging. While on the other side, I could see Muslims praying. Thereafter, they came to join the crowd. Wow!!! The questions they asked were really shocking. I was asked what is Trinity? Does it mean God is 1+1+1=1? What is Mathematics that we have learnt? Shouldn’t 1+1+1=3? I told them, God is not about addition, it is multiplications, it is engineer. Well, they just couldn’t listen. I was also challenged that does it mean God is with me now in London, and when I am back in Malaysia, He is there with me? Does my God have visa to all these places? Was asked to show the visa too. I told that guy, yes, my God is so great that He could travel with me everywhere and yes, he has visas too that I don’t have. That guy just laughed and laughed. Gee…. They were aggressive and I didn’t like it. We had a debrief session right after that. It was good experience though. :)

We were introduced to tracting, sketch-board evangelism, how to share, etc. We set up a book table at Green Lane where we were doing tracting. I was so encouraged by the openness of the people to take the Christian tracts. I have this guy who came up to me asking what’s that about and I told him, it’s about Jesus and Christmas, he took it and promised that he will read it. I just prayed that God is doing something on those who took the tract all the time. Then, we had Mickey over to start on his sketch-board evangelism. It was really cool, just that it wasn’t so many crowds as it was a busy road and many passers-by. I was impressed, really by the way Mickey convey the message. In fact, they had long conversation with a guy and we got the contact. Amen!! The weather was freezing and I had to go in to the library to get some heat a few times. :S

Thursday was a off-day for us. Yeah!!! Also, because we had a long Wednesday. We had prayer meeting and it was almost midnight by the time we got back to church. Well, we didn’t really go out in the morning as it was cold and raining and snowing. We went to British Museum in the afternoon and followed with British Research Museum.

After that, few of us went to China town for food. Yes!!! We long for nice hot Chinese food. But, it wasn’t as nice as it thought. Still, it’s Chinese food. :)It got colder and snow a bit more. The snow didn’t really stay, but, it was cold.

As it was showing quite heavily on Friday morning, we stayed in for more stamping of tracts and counting tracts - Christmas tracts to be given away. It was a cold day. Some of us were singing carols outside the subway station; some of us were giving out tracts or newspaper nearby. A lady from Hillsong came bless us with 4 cups of hot chocolate encouraging us to keep singing those carols. It was really nice.

Bianca had coffee that night which she shouldn’t. While Juliana and myself had some teng yuan for Winter Solstice that we bought from China town. Alex tried some. Well, the girls have gone ‘crazy’ that night as they shouldn’t be drinking coffee. The coffees make them hyperactive and they start to have the weird game which I called it ‘Star Wars’…

We woke up on Saturday morning finding it snowing heavier than before. It was snowing so heavily that the leaders need to find Plan B or Plan C for us. As Juliana and I got so excited, we went out for the snow. I make my fist little snowman which it was gone after 2 hours as the snow continue to fall and wind continue to blow. Alexandra was then rolling a giant snowball to make big snowman. It was so cold, fun though. J As the snow was too thick and we are prohibited to drive, hence, we were to walk to the streets for tracting. As we walked, the snow was so thick that we can’t really differentiate the pedestrian walkway and the road, so, we literally were walking on the road. It was really nice walking in snow. It was wet though. As we got into the town, the traffic was terrible than some of them were stuck in the traffic for 2 hours. And cars/ buses were driving really slowly on the street. As I stood and giving out the tracts, I could see that some cars have got no grip on the road, they just slide slowly, this was so dangerous. Of course, it was hotter on the road, snow would turn into slush and it was dirty and muddy and black snow as I called them. It was wet.

By the time we came back, all had some rest, all hung around enjoying each other as some of us were preparing for the Turkish party on the next day (Yeni Yasam). Alexandra was so excited wanting to show us an introduction to Switzerland and hurried us on our preparation. At the same time, all gathered around Benjamin’s (Benny) macbook for movie(?).

As last Sunday, we had our Sunday celebration and head to the HPCF for Speakers’ Corner a short while. Jon gave an update on our activities while Rune gave a testimony. Now, Benny is leaving us to Germany for his work. He doesn’t have much leaves. It was sad. Rune was so nice to help him carry the bag, brotherly love.

As we only can stayed for a short while at Speakers’ Corner, I didn’t want to get myself involve much. We went back to church and saw the Karen’s (Burmist) just finished their service and having some fellowship. We were invited to join the fellowship. Thereafter, we set up tables and food for Turkish Christmas party.

As we went back to TC for more discussion, we were also helping up on cleaning.

We had a prayer tour, Lights of London Prayer Tour. It was awesome. We saw the biggest Hindu temple of the world outside India in London, the state mosque, church in the midst of turning into mosque.

Then, we were driven around London. Well, at least, I have the chance to visit around some famous London landmarks. Example: Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, London Bridge, Tower of London, Christmas lights on Oxford Street.

We had the prayer walk around the Turkish area (kinda final evangelism prior closing up). It was interesting to see the Turkish preparing their food, jewelry shops. On the way home, Bianca was too tired and fallen asleep in the van. (Actually, a lot of us or most of us fall in the van, except Jon cos he needs to drive, whenever we got into the van). And we saw someone selling roses in the middle of the road as well.

And it came the night where we last be together. It is always difficult to say good-bye especially when you are living, eating and doing everything almost 24 hours for almost 12 days.

I do pray that as all of us go back to our work place, we will go back to our Jerusalem, Judea and all the world. And for those who are going for mission work/ field, may the Lord leads and guide you to reach to many lives.

Sibu, Sarikei, Sarawak

Mom has been asking me to book ticket to Sibu for a long time. Mainly also because her friend, Aunty Ngu, been asking her to go. So, finally, I booked, instead of her alone, all of us are going.

And the day came. The flight departed LCCT at 7.05am. Oh... Both sis and I had 'massage chair and head' throughout the journey. The kidos behind us kept pushing our chairs. Well, I was too tired (only slept 2.5 hours the night before) and I slept through. I almost lost my temper upon arriving... gee....

We waited for Aunty Ngu and her daughter (ah ling, same name as mom) at the airport for awhile. And we went to the hotel. Well, we had a bumpy ride, it's just like horse riding. haha...

Checked in to the hotel, went for lunch. Oh.. we ordered too much for our lunch. The Sibu laksa was very different from the one in Kuching or Miri.

Backed to hotel rested while it was raining, and went for a walk. And while walking, we went for another meal (dian-pian-hu, a very traditional rice cake soup). Walked to Methodist church, it was huge. And then, we walked till near the Rejang River (the longest river in Sarawak).

Went to market, bought something, and eat again. haha.... Sis noticed a cowboy in Sibu. :D

We were told Sibu-ian have 6 meals a day. gee.... So, since we were there, we better follow.

Next, we went back to hotel. Not long after that, we went for dinner. Crabs, sea cucumber soup and piring vege (only available in Sarawak). OK. It was nice, but we were too full.

We went for a day trip the next day. It was drizzling in the morning. We went to Rejang River. And we saw this guy fishing. He did caught a fish. Then, we proceed to visit memorial of hospital which was closed. :(

The Sibu Heritage Center was very interesting and I reckon whoever visit Sibu should go there. Well, at least, I find it interesting.

Of course, we went to Fu Zhou building. That's the mother tongue though we were from there. It was such a huge building. Sibu has 10 tribes of Fu Zhou people. It was represented by the pillars and balls outside of the building. The history (100 years) were also carved and put up on the wall. It was so amazing to see all these.

Then, we went to memorial park of the Fu Zhou who brought all the others here from China.

After lunch, we went to visit the long house. I still prefer mom's mian-sian. :)

It's really long. And they still keep the scalp of human. :s For me, the long house has been modernize. And we have decided to skip another modern long house instead. So, with the extra time, we went to Sarikei, which is about 45 - 60 mins away.

Oh... Not to mention, the road is bumpy, and we were eating all the way again. Upon arrival, mom and aunty, went to 'hunt' for chinese herbs. And we went eating (again). The pau there was there. Then, market (again). Dad bought 2 pineapples (Sarawak pineapples are very well known). We ate there. It's so juicy. :)
After which, we went back. On the way back, I alone finished all the 3 - 4 mini paus, and all the fruits. It was horrible. Upon arriving back to Sibu, we went to dinner. Then, went to pasar malam (night market). oh... by then, my stomach was as big as 3 months pregnancy! So pengsan...

On Saturday, we didn't do much. Went for lunch and head to airport to come home. It was quite a full flight as I was the last passenger at the last row. :)

It's a nice holiday with lots of eatings!!

It was quite surprised that Aloysios and Janice called me for dinner and to Seremban. Uh?! So weird. They have insisted to have a meal with me. After much digging, they wanted to celebrate my birthday and must be done before the end of Oct. haha... how sweet....

After much bargaining (so susah... even ppl wanna treat for dinner also need negotiation), we ended up at a Korean restaurant in Subang.

Well, the food was alright. I think the one in Seremban is better. However, the atmosphere there is better.

Vietnamese Food @ Seremban

Mom suggested a birthday lunch instead of a dinner as I go to Saturday Chinese Service in the evening and Sunday... hmm....

So, we have decided to check out the Vietnamese restaurant at Oakland Commercial Square. It was quite easily found.

Well, the place looks and feel right.

We have ordered noodles and a side dish (Vietnamese spring roll). The spring roll was nice, though sis didn't like it. And the noodle mom, dad and sis choose have all the same soup base. I have took the spicy one instead. All are beef noodles. Well, I won't say the food are superb, I think I don't mind going back again.

It was the thought of celebrating that counts rather than the food. I was truly touched. :)

Somehow, i still went, to show support. It was at Grand Dorsett, Subang as it's nearer to the office.

We went to The Emperor. The food was ok, slow though...
It was good time, we were loud + noisy (what's new?)... I think we laughed more than we eat.

Towards the end, tadang... a cake + birthday song.... see... told ya... well, this was surprised...

The few of us who was involved in a project (Rainbow) was too stressed out and one day while we were in a room waiting for our meeting, we were saying silly things and was laughing our heads off (kinda). And someone suggested to have outing. And so we planned for it. We actually have to waited till the fasting month was over and in fact the date and attendees were changing. We wanted all to attend (the few gila us lar) and if 1 cannot make it, we will reschedule (so serious wor)....

So, we (finally) decided to go to Sunway Pyramid, but, where about of Pyramid? I was kinda 'lost' and the few of them told me to stand where I was and they will come to 'rescue' me. While they were making their ways, the girl at the directory booth actually gave me map, directed me and etc...

But, where to eat? Bubba Gump. It's my 1st time there.

This part time waitress, Shiella, and Indonesian Chinese who is studying here was serving us and showing me things (since my 1st time mar). I was talking to her not realising that the rest are ordering food already. haha... So, yes.. i was the last. haha... Cos, normally, if I go out, someone else will order food for me. hmm....
The food was good. The salad was good. The shrimp was good. There were no complaint. Oh... I was shocked by this 'shrimp' that came by and trying to sell things.

We enjoyed each other's company and on our way back, someone said, we should do this again. No movie, as no interaction. hahaha.... some more someone said, let's do something more exciting. hahaha....

It was so funny, I sent out the calendar invite theme as 'Let's Gila-Gila' and we really live up to it... :D

Lunch @ Georgetown white coffee, Jaya 33, PJ

As we had meeting at PJ at 2pm. So, we thought of going there slightly earlier for lunch before the meeting. After parking our cars at the meeting place, we went with Cham's small little Kancil and passed by Jaya 33 and saw this Georgetown White Coffee which looks interesting. So, we just went to try.

I would say the food portion is small (yeah... not enough for me) and the taste is moderate...

I had white curry noodle with Soya milk + cendol + gula melaka. Something different and not too bad. Cham and Ati had ice kacang, 1 with ice cream and 1 without. I saw both of them finished all. I think must be nice...

I don't mind going back again, but, it's not enough for me.. and a bit pricey with the small portion...

Gunung Datuk, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan

Came to know about a supplementary climb to Gunung Datuk after 2 weeks of their (the team going to Mt. Kinabalu) climb. I told myself that I should go as I have not been and I really would like to hike. The thought of just finished team building and hiking hesitated me. And with the gloomy weather, I have decided not to pack anything and only check out my own condition the next morning.

In fact, I woke up at about 5am that morning and was in bed struggling should I go or not for awhile. Ultimately, I woke up text Francis to come to fetch me at 7am. And I started packing. :)

It was drizzling a bit on our way there. And the weather wasn't really good. Still, we climbed. It was about 39 of us, where 4 of them were little girls (below 12). And surprisingly, there weren't many other climbing groups that day. All focusing on football nowadays?

The track was a bit wet due to some rain few days earlier. I find it a little challenging as I have not been climbing/ exercise at all since Jan.

Eunice didn't feel very well after about 30 minutes climb. She was already not well before that. So, I called up her twin sister and they have decided to turn back. KG was with Eunice and he passed me his huge back pack with all the stove, gas, and don't know what not. So, I have my own bag + his bag. gee..... I was having that for about 10 - 15 mins and then Francis realised and took over from me. Then, he took it for another 10 mins and passed back to me. I was really stopping a lot within that 30 minutes. KG caught up with us and took his own bag back. phew...

We summit at 11am. It was exactly 2 hours of this 2,900 feet. Then, time to re-fill. Cooking coffee, milo, eating nasi lemak, banana, bread, etc.... I was really craving for duku langsat, laichi, watermelon.... which I could only imagine. :(

Then, we proceed further on the rocks. I have not been up there for a long time and I've decided to go up with the girls. We have to climb the metal ladder. It was clear days, not too hot, a bit of cloud and we could see the Straits of Melaka. :)
Indeed Gunung Datuk has the nicest view so far comparing to Angsi, Nuang. Then, we saw monkey. Maybe not really monkey. They are big and black. Really black. A few of them. Wow.... 1st time I see after so many of my climb to G. Datuk. :)
We started to descend at about 12noon as some of them has a a tea party to attend at 3pm back in Seremban.

Overall, it's a good climb. :) though I am having aching here and there now...

It's Karim's birthday... I told him that both of us will have generation gap after his birthday.. hahah...

Both uncle and I planned to take him for dinner few weeks/ months(?) ago and we literally asked if he could spare the actual day for us. Knowing that he is so popular and in demand. And he said, ok... hurray!! Since then, nothing being planned cos, we were too bz. :(

And on today's uncle was debating with me on where to go. Well, I have been having full day back-to-back meeting from Monday and continue to today. I just said any where. And since it's consider Karim's big birthday. Then, at the end, I asked the birthday boy. And he wanted to go Rakuzen (boring?, maybe...) and near us.

And we were supposed to have a small surprised cake for him. But, he somehow found out from my sms... aiks...

Dinner @ The Teapot Cafe

Daniel (an old friend whom I know years ago) rang me this morning saying that he is on the way down from Ipoh to KL for some errant. Also, for visa into Indonesia for his work. As we speak, I suggested since he will be spending a night in KL, let's catch up. It was years ago when we last met.

Then, I rang up Lee Nyiuk and trying to get Swee Nyuk as well. So, ended up just the 3 of us (Daniel Lee Nyiuk and I). After considerations of the locations and timing, Lee Nyiuk suggested we meet at The Teapot Cafe (green colour shop) at SS2.

The ambiance and environment was nice. Not so of the food. However, the chicken salad by Lee Nyiuk was nice. Not our Mee Bandung though.

Somehow, we ended up following Lee Nyiuk to her CG which was unplanned. It was an awesome evening. :)

Dinner @ Rakuzen, Subang Jaya

We have planned dinner with Uncle Boon Hwa for Mon - Wed and ended up only able to make it on Tuesday due to his visa.

Karim wanted to have Japanese. So, we went to Rakuzen @ SS15 Subang Jaya (opposite SJMC). We quite like this place as it's cosy and the food is quite nice as well at reasonable price. Both of them said that it's nicer than the one we had at PJ Hilton. :)

So, I had mini udon and chicken. Karim as usual had teppanyaki and Uncle Boon Hwa had some fish, I think. My portion was quite a lot. I was almost full after the noodle though.
It was nice. Half way eating, more ppl came and Karim spotted someone unexpected, Datuk Seri Shazzalli Ramly, CEO of Celcom. Wah.. quite shocking as he just sit at open area and not requesting for a room or whatsoever.. Quite humble/ simple, I reckon. (look at the background, it's blocked a bit)
Then, we ordered some dessert. Yeah.. we have decided to try something new. So, I have ordered Yukimi Daituku (Vanilla ice cream wrapped with rice skin), Itachoco Monaka (Vanilla wafer ice cream with thick chocolate) and Yuzu sorbet (refreshing citron sorbet). All were nice. Yummy..... :)

We will go back to Rakuzen for more food.. :)

Guitar

Have been saying wanted to learn one music instrument since last year or earlier. Have learned piano before, hence, the easiest would be to pick up piano again. Well, I was thinking to play guitar or saxophone though. Since I have had touched guitar in NZ while studying, I thought it was quite fun though torturing to the fingers.

Also, guitar is kinda easy to carry around.

Then, after the mission trip, I really find that I want to pick up something for the ministry (with much hesitation on my gifting in music).

I came to know about Earth Productions after attended Chinese Service. It was where we had guest speaker and I took the pamphlet and took the courage to call up and found out the class.

Yeah!!! I am in my 2nd lessons now. Yes.. fingers still very painful and I am still learning D and A chords. hmm...

Finally, I got myself a guitar with the limited budget I have. My teacher helped me to choose as I have no knowledge in it at all. So, I shall practise more now. :) Fingers, please work with me. It's fun, fun, fun though pain, pain, pain. I need to learn to strum and also to change chord also with tempo.

Interesting.... :)

Farewll Dinner: NE, NPM

NE, NPM took the org change to have a farewell dinner with everyone as the whole team is now being changed. Some remain, some gone, some gone totally different path. wow.. I do not know how the others feel. For sure, my heart doesn't feel good at all.

Was asked to join the team though I am not part of the team. What a privilege/ honor to be appreciated and take as important. :)

I was travelling after class at Kelana Jaya to SS 2 to meet a friend, then, back to Subang Parade for the dinner. :)

Neighbour's wedding

Neighbour's having dinner. The daughter was having marriage. This was the 2nd time a Malay custom wedding held near my place.

Was told that the whole family was invited for the kenduri. wow... it was interesting. We just walked over, like 3 doors away. Then, we get permission to go into the house.. wow.. I have not been to any, though mom is an expert in this. We went to the bride's room too. Wow... so many gifts from the bribe to the groom. And not cheap wor..

Then, the groom came after we got home. Of course, I still can take picture. hmm... it was interesting ceremony. I just wonder if there is different customs for different states as Negeri Sembilan is following Adat Berpateh (girl's power).. haha...

Farewell Dinner: Uncle Boon Hwa

I hate to say good-bye. Even harder to say to someone close. I find that each time, I am unsure how to manage my emotion. Maybe I take relationship too hard.

Uncle told me that he resigned. I felt so sad, well, I couldn't cry in the office as it wasn't good. Then, I went home, I couldn't sleep and I cried myself to sleep that night. It was hard, really hard for me. Though as a friend, I should be glad for uncle, it is hard especially with so many changes in the office and all the close ones are leaving one after another. So, I ended up crying so much in the month of March. And it's still have 1 week or so before March is over, I hope no more crying. Praying...

Then, it came the time to have farewell dinner arranged by Michelle with the TMT. I struggled to attend the dinner. Too many changes at the same time and I have ran out of masks.

After struggling for few days, I went with much hesitation.

The dinner was at the Japanese restaurant at PJ Hilton. I didn't have appetite to eat, still, I ordered a curry chicken udon. Well, I like the curry, not so much of the chicken. So, I finished the udon with lots of chicken leftover. Alex had some chicken with rice and I think he enjoyed it. While Karim was saying that he prefers the Japanese at Rakuzen which is anytime better. wow... Others? I am not sure what did they have. :s

Well, I have make uncle to give a speech and we have contributed to get uncle a small gift.

Then, we ordered dessert. hmm... aside ice cream, I had some special dessert from Japan with fruits. hmm... indeed it was special.

Overall, it was a 'polite' dinner. It was alright. And I jammed and used 1.5 hour or more to get back to Seremban on that evening. gosh....

Surely I will miss uncle...

Gunung Gap & Gunung Ulu Semangkuk (Semangkok)

Earlier a friend, Henry asked if I could like to join them for the climb which I couldn't due to some pre-arranged activities. Then, another friend (LKK) has actually mentioned and planned this for quite some time. I wasn't sure if I could make it as there were at least 2 big meetings for preparation (Roller Coaster & BoD preparation) right after the climb. Also, I wasn't sure if I would be fit enough for the climb. I wasn't been sleeping well, too much work, was working almost 24x7 for 2 weeks before that.

Still, I have decided to go or else I will be sitting in front of my machine bf (computer lar for the weekend). Then, I was told that the route that we wanted to use (via Kuala Kubu Baru) will be closed for Langkawi cycling. Hence, we have to change the meeting point at Bentong point (as if I know where). Since I car pool with Karim and to pick-up Kang Bee + Siew Leh (sisters) on the way. I departed from house at 5am and reached BK4 at 6am.

We were on-time reaching the tol, but, at the end, we spent time waiting for others. After more waiting, breakfast and winding road, we finally arrived at Fraser Hill at ~10am. There were already so many climbers. And it's my 1st time to Fraser Hill. :D

So, we started climbing at 10.30am. There were about 86 of us if not mistaken. A huge group.

The trail started with a very narrow entrance. And steep too. Then, a bamboo place which reminds me of Nuang. The trail was steep. I wasn't feeling well and finally thrown-out (a bit lar).. And I took it slowly. So many times, I have told Karim to go ahead as I know there are ppl behind and some ahead of me. But, he has accompanied me till the peak of G. Gap. Kang Bee and Siew Leh was no way to be seen after the initial 30 minutes. I knew I wasn't fit as I didn't have enough sleep. It was such a torture that I felt like turning back. hmm....

We arrived at the peak of Gunung Gap after 1 hour climb and saw Kang Bee there waiting for me. G. Gap is 1,183m high. We didn't see many people there thinking they would have gone ahead. For sure Siew Leh was not where to be seen and even Kang Bee said she cannot see her sister. So, we rested awhile (5 minutes) and continue for another gunung (moutain).

Now, we have to go down and hike up again. hmm..... Well, it wasn't as steep as the 1st part. So, it was alright. We saw a lot of fallen tree trunk on the way, and the plants were all moist, due to the height(?). Overall, it wasn't hot, the weather was just nice for climbing. It wasn't winding or cold as well. Just nice. oh.. we met Siew Leh as we go up, she was on her way down... wow...

Karim has decided to go ahead while both Kang Bee and me took our time for the next climb. On the way, we met an uncle who offered us yong-tau-fu. So sweet. And another couple were trying to clear up the bush. The trail wasn't as clean or as wide as other mountains that I have climb/ hike. It's more virgin here.

Towards the peak, it was a sharp V shape that we need to descend and assend (rocks and slippery). It was tough and scary. We took 2 hours from G. Gap to G. Ulu Semangkok (1,394m). It was tiring. There were no view to be seen on top of the moutain. It was a bit disappointing, no wind, nothing at all. :( Well, some friends of LKK, sifu zai and gang actually carried watermelon (8.2kg!!!), honeydew, eggs, instant noodles, water and picnic on the peak. Wow.... I struggled to carry myself and they carry so much food. *so memalukan*

As the peak area is rather small (maybe can fit 20 ppl comfortably), we started to descend after 30 minutes. Oh.. it was tougher to descend. I fall once, from the beginning and Kang Bee actually fall 4 times. hahaha.... Thank God no injury, only pain on the backside. :D

We took 2.5 hours to descend. Both Kang Bee & I spent time with each other. Knowing each other better through the trip. :) After cleaning up (there have toilet with no proper shower facility, but, clean). We waited for awhile before decided to start the journey home. (we found out Maxis has no coverage there... hehe...)

At least now the road was not so winding as we choose to go back via KKB. And the view on the way was magnificient. There were lakes on the way which we didn't stop by. (Could have).

Arrived KL at about 6.30pm and I got back to home about 9pm.

It was tiring and yet enjoyable trip. Thanks for organising. :)

Dinner at Delicious, Bangsar

A dinner was planned and suggested by both uncles (Uncle Boon Hwa and Uncle Karim). And it was decided to go to Delicious at Bangsar Village. Bangsar - (to me) a place filled with high income ppl, high class place, and most important: an expensive place. Well, since they wanted to go and once awhile. I just follow.

And since I am not familiar with that part of the world, we have decided to car follow car. hmm...

So, we left office. Only that I found out my car has ran out of battery. Called Uncle BH that they to go ahead as I need to contact AAM to fix my battery. As I was talking on the phone, those 2 uncles came and pushed my car and it started. And they insisted that I still go for dinner. And saying they will push my car again if unable to start. aiks.... It's so not me that I will go despite the car condition. (by force lar...). And it's so surprised and touched that I have such good + caring uncles to help me and take care of me.. Hugs... Imagine this: front and back is BMW 325i while middle is Proton Wira 1.5L. hahaa.... Shouldn't I feel proud that I have 2 BMWs as my bodyguard?! hahaah... =D

So, the dinner. It was ok. The food was alright. Uncle Karim ordered green curry, uncle Boon Hwa had duck and I had soya chicken. Uncle BH helped me to eat most of it. hahaha... As I wasn't hungry. He said his duck was a bit tough. hmm... Don't know why that I didn't eat so much like weeks before where I have been eating non-stop (hungry all the time mar)... The company was great.

I went back to Sban after dinner praying that I could get back safely. :) Thank God, He provided and protected. Got home safely and thereafter the car really decided not to start any more.

Overall, I thank God for sending such nice ppl into my life. (I was crying when I got to know that uncle BH is leaving the company as I will surely miss him a lot.....)

CNY dinner

It was way before CNY that dad asked us if we want to join the dinner organised by his Church (Methodist) for a CNY dinner. I looked at calendar, Fridah!? That means I have to rush back from work?! Then, I checked again, it's public holiday!!!! Yea!!!! So, happily we agreed.

Total of 55 tables with 10 person on each table. Hence, a total of 550 people. wow.... The food was nice and the company too. Surely we had lau-sang. heheh.. and it was yummy.. a big fish too. :)

The dinner started on-time, in fact, slightly early and lasted for about 2 hours or so. Typical 9/10 course Chinese dinner.

It was closed to 10.30pm when we got home. Then, we saw these big insects which if bitten will swell on the floor. As we avoided them, we saw something strange. And took a second look, they were trying to mate or mating. oh.. this was interesting. Have not seen anything like that. So, I picked-up my camera and started sitting on the floor for an hour plus for the whole thing... haha.... Dad too. And we totally ignored the American Idol showing on TV. At one point, I felt that I was watching R rated movie, but, it's about bug... hahaahaha... so pengsan...

Simple Thai Food

Aunty Sherine was back from India for CNY celebration. It's been such a long time since I last saw her. Since she missed Thai food so much that we decided to go with her choice. :)

It was a simple nice dinner. Some dishes were a bit too spicy though. It's the company that count but not so of the food.

Mini Lau-Sang

We get this packet of lau-sang from one of the hamper. Instead of having the box lying around, we have decided to have it in the office. Since, it's in the office, it will not have fish which suppose to have. Why do we want to have fish? In chinese, it simply means one will have balance every year, 年年有余（鱼）(direct translation: year year got fish (balance)).

Actually, the custome of lau-sang is only applicable to the Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia. Not any where else. I read about why having it some where in the paper, but, I can't remember. Normally, we do this on the 7th day of Chinese New Year. 7th day is the birthday for everyone, 人日。

Basically, we are to say good things/ wishes when we are tossing the dish. It is actually make up of dried carrots, ginger, some crackers, etc. (vegetarian, if without the fish).

It was quite fun having it in office. Some of them are actually having it for the 1st time. :)

Short break to Penang

Have been saying wanted to go for a short break since 2009. Finally, we are making it regardless.

Departed KL at about 9am on Friday. It's a company off day due to Thaipusam on Saturday. Boon Hwa's car was loaded with gadgets and wires. Like so hi-tech. But, he was scolding on the different systems. While Karim was using multiple phones to make phone calls on some work related things.

Then, we were saying shall we stop at Ipoh, Taiping or straight to Penang? Then, we decided to go to Taiping. Next was what to eat. hmm..... so many and yet still don't know what to eat. Then, we settled with something simple as we are going to eat again in Penang. Of course, i wanted to have cendul since I have read about it in the web.

Indeed the cendul was nice. I love it. So, did Karim. It's really yummy. It wasn't so sweet and the cendul was so nice, ie, soft. I really like it. :) Bismillah Cendul located at the corner of shop and diagonally of George's school.

Then, we headed to Penang. Arrived at Penang wondering what to eat again. So, we went for Nasi Kandar. I said, Nasi Kandar Line Clear (blog said it wasn't so bad). As we walked inside, we can see them cooking, so, no worries of the food. It's kinda like open kitchen. :)

The food: so spicy (at least for me). I couldn't eat so much any more as was filled.

oh... of course, we went for the Penang cendul. Another cendul within an hour or so. I didn't quite like it as I think the one in Taiping was better. The coconut milk (santan) and gula melaka in Penang just different. However, Boon Hwa loves it though. hmm.... :s

So, what's next? Head back to hotel and rest.... Too full. Too much food in the stomach.

Then, evening/ dinner. Food again?! Seafood. We went to Teluk Tempoyak for some Malay style of seafood. It was nice. Nice place, nice food. :) We ate so much.... gosh...

Thereafter, headed to Gurney Drive. The traffic going to town was terrible. I kinda fallen asleep in the car. And we settled at 75 C for a drink. Surprisingly, TBH ordered a bowl of prawn mee. He was really enjoying it. There, we just lazed ourselves, enjoying the music, the ampience.

Arrived back to hotel closed to midnight. Then, was told b/fast at 7.30am. Uh!!!??? It's weekend, it's suppose to be holiday and sleep in. hmm...... :(

Next morning. We went to Penang Hill after our breakfast. We have to passby the very happening market of Air Hitam. It was so interesting to see so many ppl and yet all the cars trying to go through the busy street.

Bought the ticket to Penang Hill via cable car. While we were waiting for the cable car, an 80 year-old uncle was talking to me. He had a garden up there and he was selling flowers. He was wondering why so many knew that the cable car was in-service (1st day) after closing for 9 days. Well, I must say we were just being so blessed. We talked so much on the way up till I have to 'abundant' Karim + TBH.

Halfway, we have to change cable car. This was so interesting. The entire ride from bottom to top took about 30 minutes. The cable car will be closed on 22 Feb onwards till further notice for upgrade and maintenance. They are changing it to 2 lanes and faster train. This ride reminds me of my time of varsity. We have to take cable car to school, or, drive up to the hill or walk up the 100 steps of stair case. hmm... normally, I will choose to take the cable car. :)

Had coconut drink after some walk around at Penang Hill. It wasn't as many people as I thought would be. Weather at Penang Hill was lower than the island though it was still quite hot.

My coconut drink was frozen inside and I couldn't get the fresh out. :( All was frozen. On the way down, both men were saying better to have a free fall ride. hmm.... crazy..

Karim and us were kinda separated after we have changed the cable car on our way down. He was kinda 'ambused' by the Indians.

The cable car was packed with ppl on our way down. It read that the capacity of cable car of 80 ppl, but, I think it was more than that.

After that, we went back to hotel for check-out at 1pm. And off we left Penang Island.

What's for lunch? Karim's friend suggested prawn noodle at Sg. Dua. Wow.... indeed it was so nice. The prawn was so big. We also ordered some sotong kangkong. Nice. :)
Then, time to go home. It was raining quite heavily on the way back. We stopped by Tapah for a drink and thereafter all the way home.
It was a nice short trip that I enjoyed. Didn't plan much, just let the things took place which I think was cool. :)

Pan-mian in SS15, Subang Jaya

Supposed to meet KEI at Kopitiam at SS15, Subang Jaya. Then, I was told they are closing at 7pm. So, we have to changed place for food. Where to go? Station 1, pan-mian or where...? As we have decided to walk instead of drive, though I am still limping. We have decided to go for pan-mian.

Before reaching 面对面, we saw this Little Kitchen. It looks quite interesting and quite a lot of ppl in there. So, we went in for a try. Wow... so many types of pan-mian. I was curiously asking what's the difference of their pan-mian with the one in 面对面. They said, just different style. Then, I asked, so, what's the best seller? The guy showed us a few. OK. Then, we ordered.

KEI ordered the set meal comes with centurian egg dumpling pan-mian with drinks @ RM7.50. It's the Wed special meal. I ordered the chinese herbal chicken soup based pan-mian. Both of us wanted the home made soya milk with a bit of sugar.

I asked permission to take pictures of the food telling them that I am going to share in the web so more ppl get to know them.

Then, the food came. Wow... soya milk taste good. The noodle came. Looks interesting. Taste good too. yumm.... and we just indulged in our food. The chillis were not very special. It's ok. :)

We were so full after finished our pan-mian and soya milk.

wow.... I will come back again and test/ taste on different type of pan-mian. Then, we saw a lot of ppl ordered side dish as well as tao-fu-hua. hmm... i think should be nice.

Gunung Datuk

Thought no more hiking/ climbing for the rest of the year after G. Nuang 2 weeks ago. Then, I went again today to Gunung Datuk. It's much shorter than Nuang, for sure. Up and down of 4 hours.

There were so many ppl. So many groups of ppl.

I was worried as my hiking boots gave way in Nuang hike and I was on normal sports shoes which will not have good grip. Still, I think should be ok.

Francis came to fetch me at about 7.20am. We started the climb at about 8.50am. It was kinda tough as it was vertical climb from the beginning. I was with Min Chee, Fong and Douglas. We were taking it slowly as Min Chee wasn't feeling very well. There were about 40++ of our team. Quite a big group. We have ppl from Seremban, KL and even Singapore. :O

Peter Lai and Dr. KK being the leader while Steve Yap and Jason Wong being the sweeper.

We saw the Fatman paper trail which was use in G. Nuang hike as well as a guide of direction.

Then, we saw Pat, she was struggling as well which was weird. Then, I called KG and Karim for S.O.S. While they tried to come down, we walked slowly and shared the load up as well. After they met us and helped, they sped off again.

We reached the peak at 10.44am, which we took almost 2 hours. hmm...

It was so windy up there. And since we were wet, we felt a bit chilly. Min Chee was trying to hide from the wind by staying behind the rocks. Funny... We didn't go up further as there were too many ppl and congested. Also, we have been there. So, we give the chance to those who has not been there before.

We just enjoyed ourselves and it was nice. :)

Then, time to descend. My shoes really didn't have a good grip and i find it really challenging... :( And I slipped and fall just before the hut stop. Ouch.... It was painful. I applied some antiseptic and it was still bleeding. Then, not much choice, Douglas sprayed something which is supposed to seal the wound by forming a layer of 'plastic' over it. I was really screaming when he did that on me. It was so painful... Well, I think the cut (3 of them) were too deep and the blood still continue to flow.... Gosh....

Finally I reached the base. Eunice said, we look slightly more than an hour to descend. hmm.... Time to shower and change. Too bad, no water. So, just changed.

Then, we went for lunch.

And I went for anti-tetanus jab after I got home. And fluid still coming out and my antiseptic medication just continue to flow down.... Now, my hand also pain due to the jab. It's more painful then the Hep B jab I had 2 weeks ago. :(

Overall, it was quite a good climb. :)

Gunung Nuang

Was struggling if I should go Gunung Nuang or not as it has really been a nightmare for me when I was there in 2007 (http://rachelfish.blogspot.com/2007/06/gunung-nuang.html). This time, I have told Fong that I will just accompany here and I do not want to summit. Reaching Kem Pacat (leech) is enough for me and I will turn around. The place is now done up much better than 2007. At least a proper toilet and shower place. Building more chalets.

I was so tired when I got home on Thursday (31/12) and just them that I do not want to go. Somehow, I started to pack after few smses. And I ended up sleeping at 12.30am and have to wake up at 3am as someone is picking me up at 4am (I think).

Next morning, the car came, and I am the driver. Well, I thought just to pick up a few and it wouldn't be me driving there planning to catch some sleep in the car. Well, I was too innocent to think that. I drove all the way, following Peter Lim's pick-up truck. He was driving really fast. We left Seremban about 5am to Gunung Nuang at Hulu Langat, Selangor. The journey took 1.5 hours.

There were altogether 43 of us from everywhere (KL, Seremban, Kuantan, Belgium). We started assending at 7.15am after a short prayer by Dr. KK. We had the buddy system where no one should walk around at all times. Either team up or stay together. It is very important as a team activity and as partner stay together. Also, radios were prepared for communications. I think there were about 4 - 5 radios in total.

There were 2 Francis Tan (1 from KL, 1 from Sban) and 2 Rachel (David's daughther and me). So, it was quite confusing at times. hahah..

We started the never ending road, it was small rocks and up and downhill, I was told that stretch itself was 5KM. Well, I was supposed to buddy with Fong, but, we kinda changed partner where I was partnering with Francis Tan (Sban). There were lots of bamboo all the way.

Then, we started on the real climbing after the 5KM walk. Well, we have to cross 3 waterfalls + 1 dam. Thereafter, it was just forest. For me, the forest was considered thick as there were shade. We reached Kem Lolo at 9.25am. Kem Lolo is after the 1st waterfall and the dam. And Kem Lolo is the 2nd river crossing. Then, we continued walking upwards. A lot of cossing tree trunks (fallen tree) as well. Thank God that though KL has been raining, the place seems to be quite dry and it was good for climbing.

Then, we reached Kem Pajat at 11.12am. It was already 4 hours climbing for me. And this is where I got bitten by leech (and the mark is still around) when I was here in 2007. This time, I didn't see any leech at all. Instead, lots of bees. This is where I have planned to stop and turnaround.

While we rested, we saw KL Chan's shoes was so weird. He told us that the outer layer of the shoes came off. Wow...

My legs started to ache and I do not wish to push myself. Also, I noticed that my soles are opening up. But, KG insisted and pushed Fong & I to go further. With much hesitation we went. We saw a big bee hive. Wow... scary.

After Kem Pajat, it was almost 90 degree climb (maybe I was too extreme), but, a lot of times, I need to really climb by holding to the roots and rocks and pushed myself up. It was really tough. Then, I reached Kem Pengasih (Passionate) at 12.59pm. It was 1.30 hours for me. KG insist me to go to the Summit. I also insist that I do not want to do so. Mainly knowing my own ability and limit. Also, I knew that descending will be much tougher and I am slow, hence, I need to turnaround so that I do not get trapped in the dark like 2007 again.

Kem Pengasih has quite different scenic than Kem Pajat. It is more moist here. It's like in the story book kind of feeling. :)

After rested and eaten some food, of course photos session. We started to descend. It was about 1.30pm. My legs were really really painful. My legs refused to listen to my order and I just felt that I couldn't control them. Whenever I stopped, I could feel my legs were wobbling and it was horrible. A lot of the times, I had to lift them up using my hands to cross those tree trunks.

On the way down, I saw this place where I can see the dam. The dam that serves the ppl in Selangor.

Then, we have to cross the 3 rivers + 1 dam as well. I slipped on the 1st as my legs were really tired and no strength.

And we came out and started the never ending walk. As mostly are descending, I tried to break, but, each time I did that, the toes were hurting me badly. And so I have decided to follow the gravity to have small jog, fully aware that it will hurt my knees. For me, I just want to get out fast. It was twilight and again, I was walking alone. I old myself that I must get out before 7pm. And I did. It was tiring. Those early arrival left for home after freshen up.

Then, KG and Fong didn't get out yet. Peter Lim was out and I heard him making arrangement to open the gate so he could drive his pick-up truck in to take 3 more ppl + 5 others from other group.

All were safely out before 9pm. Freshen up and we left the place to have dinner at Semenyih. There were only 4 of us, we had dinner at about 10++pm. Arrived home at 1.30am after escorted Peter home and sending Fong home.

It was a really long day, 3am - 1.30am. Well, Nuang is still a nightmare for me. And I do not want to go back again.

Year 2009

The year passed by so quickly. It was as if yesterday that I wrote the wrapped-up for 2008. And now, I am entering into 2010. I was literally hoping the time will stop or at least pause for a moment when I was in office. Is this sign of aging? I don't know. I just felt like the time went by too fast as I was too busy throughout the year.

Highlight of the year:
- 3 weeks in Perth, Australia :)
- Mission trip to Shangkalaburi: Awesome experience
- Trip to HCMC: very relax indeed

Other than that I didn't really do much for the year. I think I worked a lot and been quite busy which I am trying to change.

Thank God for His guidance. Actually, I wonder why ppl want to celebrate the calendar year, what about weeks or months? For me, there's not much feel about it. Weird...

Boxing Day

Went out dating with Fong. We had wanted to go out and do something for a long time. Well, thought of meeting up in KL and it didn't work out. Argh... We met up with a few more at Mid-Valley for dinner on Tuesday though.

We decided to watch The Princess and The Frog today. Went to fetch her and we went to Terminal 2, got our ticket and went lepaking a bit prior the movie starts.

It was a nice show aside the kids behind us were kinda kicking our chairs. The cinema was small. 8 in a row only. But, it was kinda new.

Then, we went to Jusco @ Seremban 2. Walking without nothing much in mind. hmm.... And we had cone ice-cream from McD. Yummy...

It was a nice outing. :)

Popeyes @ Sunway Pyramid

The traffic to there was horrible. And I thought that was all. The worse was I was at the car park looking for a parking lot for almost 1 hour. Really tormenting!! :(

Well, at least the food was alright. It was like KFC, well, it doesn't look as spicy as KFC, but, it was more spicy than KFC. The mashed potatoes and salad was nicer than KFC. :) Like it..

We spent the rest of the time sitting there and talking as I was too tired after the super tiring finding parking lot thingy..

Taman Pertanian/ Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam

It's been N years since I last cycled. Unsure if I still know how to. Hoever, I've make few phone calls, sent few sms yesterday prior decided to go to Bukit Cahaya today. Have been hearing ppl talking about it. And since we have said we wanna go, so, go lar...

Only the 3 of us. Well, it was raining in the morning and kind of worried.

Anyhow, we still went. We were not very sure of the direction, just followed the signboard and the signboard kinda missing after awhile. Roughly, head towards Tesco in Shah Alam, then, all the way straight. Until seeing signboard turning right. Then, all the way straight again. I think it's about that. haha... have to ask my friend who drove. I was just sitting in the car enjoying myself. :p We arrived there about 9-ish am.

The park only open at 9am - 4,30pm. Close on Monday except it is a public holiday.

Car need to pay an entrace fee of RM1. Then, each person (adult) cost RM3 per person. Then, had some light breakfast, which was really expensive.

We proceeded to rent a bicycle though there's a skytrex which pre-booking through internet is required. http://www.skytrex-adventure.com/booking.php There are 2 types of package on bicycle: old and new. Old one starts with RM3 for the 1st hour and thereafter RM1 per hour. New one starts with RM5 for the 1st hour and thereafter RM1 per hour. We took the new ones.

Tested and started the journey. Well, moutain bikes is different from the normal bikes. Found it so breathless to cycle and up the slope. The roads were tarred, just the terrained was tiring. At one point, chain on TBH's bike was lossen which need to be fixed. Good to have engineer around. ;)

We passed-by the Skytrex. So many people, no wonder booking is required.

It started to drizzle and since we needed rest, we just went to the shelter place. Then, we headed back. It was still early, but, tired already, also, TBH needed to go back for lunch appointment. It's even tougher. Gosh... I have to push my bike going uphill sometimes. Going downhill was fun, have to watch out and be careful though as the road is winding also.

The place is so big, in total about 8KM for cycling, think we only cover 3KM or less. In total, we only spent about 1.5 hours cycling after N years. hahah....

Well, the only drawback was the toilet facility is not very well. It would be much better if they have the shower host for people to freshen up after the exercise.

Then, it's meal time, so hungry. Went to Damansara for nasi lemak. So many people. (ooppss... to hungry till I didn't and also forgot to take picture).

We went to 1 Utama to see a few other friends doing wall climbing after dropping TBH. My palms and feet sweat too seeing them doing that. I reckon, it's something I will not do. :(

Had ice cream at McD before I head home. It's nice to have a nice shower and rest afterall. :)

Yeah... I would like to go back there for cycling though.

Working day

Noticed some unusual people been working late recently. Took pictures of them and shared with the group. Wow... Received unbelievable response from the team. It's amazing. Was just to share with the team and make them feel a bit better, kinda entertainment?! hahaa...

Then, I saw different ones staying back late. And even CTO went back at 7++pm today. Snapped a picture of him too. haha... Woon actually came jokingly and told me that he wanted me to take a picture of him. hahaha..

And it's kinda 'funny' that, camera out, they pack, when I am done, they took their laptops out and start working again. hmm....

Today, while I was rushing some modeling template for a project, some of the decided to play some board game since it was raining heavily and surely traffic will be horrible. Then, someone suggested to play Upwords. I wanted to play too and yet still have to rush for my work. So, I just give them the alphabets, and when it gets to my turn, no time for me to think so much. So, I ended up with lowest points. I must say, it's a nice game. :)

We work hard + smart and yet not to forget to relax a bit as well.

Chocolate Butter Cake

Struggled to bake/ make something this weekend or not since I have been doing it 3 consecutive days last weekend.

At the end, I told my sister to get me some unsalted butter and buttermilk from Giant after church. She rang and told me couldn't get buttermilk. Well, that means chocolate creamy cake is gone. So, with butter and chocolate powder at home and milk, what should I make. Maybe chocolate and orange cake? Since we have orange at home. But, I look at the recipe again, 2 hours cooking time. Forget it.

So, at the end, opted for simple chocolate butter cake. Earlier was also thinking should I make Chiffon cake again? Since everyone likes Chiffon cake so fast.

At the end, Chocolate Butter Cake it is. It's quite simple, i reckon and the baking time was fast. It was halfway after I have done all the washing.

hmm... yumm.... I didn't put the chocolate cream as the book said, unless for party, I reckon, else, how to finish?

Japanese Dinner

A few colleagues cum friends celebrated belated birthday for me and early birthday for uncle Boon Hwa today. Had Japanese (again. 3rd time this week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Had high class mamak on Wed) at Sunway Pyramid.

They reckon the food is the same as Rakuzen in Subang and the serving in Subang is much better. For me, I am not very sure. I think they put a lot of food seasoning here as I can feel it especially dried mouth after meal. And the ventilation here is not as good. Shall recomment Rakuzen in Subang is a better place. :)

Birthday lunch + dinner

2 friends celebrated my birthday with me yesterday by taking me out to Rakuzen (Japanese restaurant). Actually, I don't expect them to do so. Well, after a whole day meeting, i needed rest. I was at IT Helpdesk installing something on my PC and within that 5 minutes, I realised that I was so tired and it's only Monday evening. I couldn't move at all until the IT ppl jokingly said they are going to call me a cab. hahaha... I told them to push me back up to level 4.

Well, then, the 2 friends took me to dinner with me feeling tired to walk, to eat. But, it was very sweet of them insisted to take me for dinner and a cake which I opted for ice cream.

No picture taken as I didn't bring anything out except my phone and myself.

Today, few other colleagues cum friends took me out for lunch for a fried chicken nasi lemak. Nice... sweet as....

Tonight, went out with another 2 friends (ex-colleagues). One of them is having same birthday with me (another friend of mine having same birthday, same year is a Japanese, lost contact, so sad). So, we ate at Sakae Sushi. I think I have not see them for 5 - 6 years. wow.. and we just talked and talked like old friends. cool... :)

I was jokingly saying when will we meet again? After another 10 years?

Sushi + Sponge Cake

Chiffon Cake

Had enjoyed really nice chiffon cake baked by Aunt Mei Ling when I was in NZ. Tried many times and still couldn't be like what she did.

Today, I tried again. Taste and smell were there, not the look :( Only thing, it didn't raise enough and not fluffy enough. But, I beat the egg enough. Wondering and only realised that I forgot about the cream of tartar... aiks.... (oh... I make my own pandan juice too), so, this cake has got not colouring. :)

Dad and mom like it. Mom said it's a bit sweet though I have reduced the sugar. Overall, it's still ok. haha... So, maybe try again and it should be alright? Hopefully.... :s

Mango Orange Sorbet

I read about making own ice cream and sorbet long long time ago. And I thought it was quite difficult and tedious to make them.

Recent trip to Saigon had the really nice sorbet make me rethink. And as I came back, read those recipe again. And since we have home grown mango and passion fruit, just thought why not try to make.

Since I didn't have enough passion fruit this time, I tried to make the mango. It was easy, but tedious. Have to make into puree, strain (though may not necessary). Just that I like it smooth. And I did a mistake, I accidentally put the same amount of measurement of concentrated orange juice as orange juice, aiks... a bit too thick and too sweet.

Then, I fridge it, freeze it, blend it a few times.

And the next time... tadaa.... It's nice, I reckon. hahaha..... Next time, I shall try on the passion fruit.

Fireworks - Deepavali

Another wisdom tooth

Make a dental appointment today since it's a off day. :)

Thought of doing the annual check-up and also thinking should I extract the upper right wisdom tooth. It's not giving me problem, just the food will get stuck there and irritates me.

After almost driving around half the town for a parking lot, I managed to find one (so far) and walked so fast to the dental clinic as I was really late. Told the doc. on what I wanted to do. He looked at it and said, ok.

It was a fast process. And I have lost another 25% of wisdom. Lost 25% last year also. So, total of 50% lost. haha... =D

Making & Baking

Wanted to bake or make something for a long time. Then, thought was making jelly and sis agreed.

Went to The Store after church to get a can of lychee and the konnyaku jelly powder. Thinking that I can have passion fruit favour too since there are a few fruits at home.

And I started making when I got home. It was quite easy. :)

After making that, looking at the clock, it's only 3pm. And I felt like baking. Then, I decided to try muffin again since I failed it the last time.

A lot of people tell me muffin is the easiest, but, I just couldn't make it. I can make Black Forest but, I can't make muffin. aiks... So, I wanted to try again. tadaa.... I managed, just that I think I need to use the right flour. The one that I am using makes my muffin a bit chewy (according to the book-lar....)

So, I shall try again next time...

This coming weekend, I shall try to make something else... :)

Farewell Dinner

Actually, I don't like to go for farewell dinner. It is as if we will not meet again and I always wonder why don't we do this kind of makan (eating) more often but wait till someone is resign.

Anyway, we had our dinner at Sunway, Tasty Pot was the restaurant. It's steamboat. I would say the company count more than the food. :)

It was fun to play with KK Yap's son. He found out that I am also Rachel and his eyes blink as he said he has a friend also Rachel. hahaha...

We ate and we had fun. Take care Ms. Chong (Swee Kwee). Surely we will miss you...

Gunung Angsi via Bukit Putus

A friend mailed me about the climb this Sat 2 days ago, I kinda ignored it cos I have had an appointment made in the morning. Then, received sms. Also, cannot lar..

On Friday, I was thinking should I go or should I not. And I called to postpone the appointment to next Sat. Even when I got home, well, parents kinda encouraged me to go since I was pretty stress-up recently.

I wasn't sure if I will go though I started packing. I was quite anxious as it has been a long time (years?) since my last climb a mountain. Well, I did go for hills and Rat Race, but, it's different. There was this fear growing in me as I knew the others are very fit.

So, I woke up on Saturday, it was cloudy and I think I should go. So, I went to meet up the rest at church. There were only 7 of us. KG, Peter Lim, Jason Wong, Pat, David, Nataniel (Peter's youngest son) and me.

We arrived at Bukit Putus (decided to take this alternate route as was told it's easier and shorted) at about 8.15am. We could see the new Lekas (yet to open) highway just below us. We started after a word of prayer.

The terrain at the start was narrow and steep. I already find it difficult and thinking how to survive for the rest. And they called this ez! It's definitely not for me. Thank God Peter Lim and Nataniel were behind me (by purpose?). Peter has always been a sweeper in my climb with him around.

Arrived at this Kopitiam (Cafe) place after 30 minutes of the steep climb. We rested and was told it's easy after that. True enough it was fairly easy. It's walking and some ups and downs.

Somehow we need to go over or under a lot of falled tree trunks. It's very much like obstacle course. At some junctions, I didn't know where to go. And Peter told me, just follow the red plant. It was planted by the owner of the Kopitiam, they come here every Saturday. That really impressed and touches me. Every Saturday!! And they plant it so people are able to follow the route. Good samaritans.

At one part, it was so dark, and misty. Well, it was cooling too. We summited at about 10.00am, took us about 1.50 hours. Wow...

After rested and chatted with some other guys there. They were talking about helicopter evacuation at Everest base camp which required USD5K upfront as the insurance coverage is more of refund later. The team got excited of the topic. It started to drizzle and we descended after about 15 - 20 minutes rest.

Descending was fast. I took opportunity to snap more photos. One can actually see the Lekas (still building) highway.

The rain got heavier when we were about to reach the base (~ 12 noon). Well, since we were about there, no one borthered to wear the rain coat, so, we were wet.

I knew I had a scratched on my way up. It was painful especially the sweat got into it. Only later I realised that it was like a Nike mark. hahaha... Just do it, uh.

As soon as I got my belongings for changed, an accident happened within split second right in front of me. The car got hit because another car which tried to overtake and squeezed in as there were on-coming car. And the car behind can't move at all... wow...

For me, I think it's not that easy climb, overall, it's not that difficult as well. Do I want to climb more mountains? I am not sure. I know they are trying to convince me to go Nepal climb next March for 18 days trip. hmm....

Broga Hill, Semenyih

Saw pictures posted by friends to Broga Hill recently and make me wanted to go.

So, I sent out emails asking colleagues and friends, talked to friends over MSN. OK, a few wanted to go and we thought maybe 17th Oct is good.

At about 6++pm yesterday, Fong sent me a text asking what if going tomorrow (ie, today). Why not, more than happy to go, though none of us know how to get there. hahaha...

At 10++pm or 11++pm, she text me and confirm going. Ya... sounded a bit crazy. I called up another friend and keen as well. OK. Let's prepare. And we realised, we have no food (eg. bread or banana, etc..) but, well, just go. Fong's friend, LKK, has been there last week and saying that it's easy climb. I was thinking since I have not done any exercise (wanted to sleep than walk), so not wanting to take it for granted.

Then, those from KL arranged their own timing and transport. Us from Seremban arranged ours. So, I got to wake-up at 4am to pick Fong up at her place before 5am and meet up Cheng and Min Chee at 5.15am at Bukit Lemon. Why so early? We are supposed to be at University of Nottingham at 6.15am.

This morning, my alarm went off and everything was as scheduled. Well, we arrived there about 6am and found out that those from KL were still at Seri Kembangan. hmm.... Then, we asked the guard at the university and decided to meet the guys at the palm oil estate instead.

It is located about 3KM away from University of Nottingham, turn off at the traffic light ahead, palm oil estate behind a rabbit farm. One can see (carefully) that many cars would park on the roadside or in the palm oil plantation.

So many cars there already by the time we arrived. Finally, the guys arrived and we started our journey. Well, I must say it wasn't as steep as Panaroma Hill, but, it can also be a challenge. It was dark and we needed torch light.

Would propose to go a bit earlier, hence no rush and do it slowly and able to take more photos.

Soon, we arrived at Peak #1, a flat area with lots of people. Didn't spend too much time here and we proceeded to Peak #2. Some good samaritans actually make steps on the hill for easy walking. Peak #2 was crowded too. But, the sun started to come out and we spent a bit more time here taking pictures. The cool breeze was so nice that helps to cool us down. LKK said we took 45 minutes to reach Peak #1 which could be done in 30 minutes. Not sure. Maybe.... :S

Peak #3, short distance away, where the big rock is. We spent a lot more time here taking more pictures. haha.... Ladies... The view was really nice.

And went on to Peak #4 where I saw ladder and string which immediately reminded me of Gunung Datuk. Well, this is the mini version. We saw a group of young Malays actually changed into Malay costume and taking pictures which was really cool. Then, Min Chee suggested we do something like this in CNY. Cheng said, in Cheong Sam?! I said, only make it here gets their ang-pao.. hahah... We didn't spend too much time at Peak #4 as the surface is quite small.

Going down can be quite slipperly though. Thank God the steps were made to make it easier. At one point, we gotta stopped due to the amount of people (traffic jam) which reminded us of the crowd we experience in Panaroma Hill.

There's no tree on the hill, the entire hill is full of lalang (cogongrass/ reeds/ straw).

After that, we went for nasi lemak with Milo as our breakfast which was really yummy. Nasi lemak and Milo really compliment each other...

I enjoyed the trip. Thank you all for making it happend though this was quite last minute and ad-hoc. :)

Fireworks in office???

Suddenly, I heard the sound boom boom.... and I looked-up and out... wah... so nice... But, it was too late when I had my camera. So, I continued talking with my colleague + brother. Then, again, now, i had my camera on the table.. so, i went to the window. Shutter is really slow as I turned it to fireworks mode...

Still, it's so nice..

Where's that coming from? I think from Kelana Jaya....

So, it's not all the time so bad to stay in the office till so late. Not also to say that I like to stay till so late... But, u know what I meant, don't u? :)

Home made cakes....

Was supposed to pick-up the jelly mooncake from cousin last Friday. But, since I was to KL and not able to do so, she came delivered to our house this evening. And all the more was all the way from USJ. So touching..

On top of it, she also made yam cake.... Sooooo yummy.... :) She is such warm hearted.

Both items are for open to order and purchase. It's really nice...

Languages

Realised that I have learnt quite a number of new languages through the mission trip. It's fun... and the most exciting part is that I am still able to use some Burmese locally as there are some Myanmar ppl in Malaysia. It is very exciting, at least for me to know so many languages... Example as below:

Conclusion: I like to go mission trip. Aside learning the languagues and culture, I was blessed a lot which is really cool....

Dinner: crabs....

Went to eat what we were supposed to have last weekend - crabs. Not my favourite, still..... I prefer the fish head noodle and the chicken better.

Then, we went the Era walk for nyonya cendul. arh.... this is what I like, I like cendol and ABC (air batu campur)/ ice kacang. Yupe... and they gave me my favourite ice cream, vanilla flavour. hahahaha...

Baba's birthday

Went out for dinner to celebrate ba's birthday. Supposed to go to another restaurant for seafood, but, it's just too packed with people and we decided to go to 'Fei-low' instead. Our family, we called it 'fast serving place', cos, the food normally is served quite fast. :)

It's not the exact date, but, we normally celebrate earlier by eating a meal out. No cake? Ya.... maybe just a slice since he is not a cake lover, and normally, the cake will end-up in somebody's stomach. hahaha....

Aren't these awesome?!

I like where I am sitting now in office.... not wanting to move... Why?

Because:
1. The air-cond is nice. Now, I said, cold... :)
2. The view is awesome, everytime I lifted my head and look out the window. Awesome skylines and I couldn't resist and take up my camera.... :) Almost everytime, I will tell whoever sitting around me, look outside, look at the sun, look at the sky, etc....
3. Just being where i am....

Typical Friday's Traffic

A typical Friday's traffic is jam all the way from Nilai to Seremban for no reason. Normally will be part of the jam if I leave office after 4pm. Don't know what happened...

Today's horrible, it's 10.47pm on my clock and the jam is horrible... Why so? Bcos it's FRIDAY + school holiday starting on Sat + 1st day of Puasa on Sat. So, it's triple jam....

Mom said, I had too much kaya, time to have some jam on every Friday... aiks... pengsan.. I don't need this kind of jam ler... (did you get the joke?)
